Exploration of the Effect of Oxygen on Superconductivity in MgB2 Bulk by Using Boron Powder with Different Particle and Purification

In this study, boron powder with different particle sizes was purified by both chemical and heat treatment methods. The reduction in the size can improve purification no effort on treatment. superconducting properties of drastically changed even only a partial elimination oxygen. On one hand, less oxygen content resulted high Tc Jc values under low magnetic field, most importantly, significant improvement connectivity (Af value). other degradation field change pinning mechanism were also found, along decreasing This result indicated that oxygen, probably MgO, might act as center an obstacle for supercurrent MgB2 at same time. work paves way obtaining pure oxygen-free understanding real effect MgB2.
